Philadelphia police have released images of a second suspect sought in connection to the mass shooting in South Philadelphia where eight people were injured at a restaurant earlier this month.

The second suspected shooter is a heavy-set man spotted wearing a white t-shirt, blue sweatpants, light gray sneakers and a large gold chain with a charm at the time of the attack, police said.

The shooting occurred at around 3:53 a.m. on July 5, 2025, at the 7 Elements restaurant, bar and lounge on Washington Avenue.

Police previously arrested a security guard working that night at the restaurant, 43-year-old Michael Welton, and charged him with attempted murder, aggravated assault, possessing an instrument of crime and recklessly endangering another person.

Police said an argument occurred at the business shortly before 4 a.m. that morning which escalated into a fight involving knives. As security guards tried to intervene, at least one person pulled out a gun and opened fire. One of the security guards also pulled out a weapon and fired, police said.

Eight people — including a security guard — were shot. All of the victims were listed in stable condition and expected to survive.

The 7 Elements restaurant has also had its bar license revoked by the city’s Department of Licenses and Inspections for unspecified violations.
