Kennedy Davenport, the legendary Dancing Diva of Texas, and former Dallas City Councilman Omar Narvaez have been named grand marshals of the 2025 Pride In Dallas Parade, Pride In Dallas officials announced this afternoon (Wednesday, July 16).

The parade is set for Sunday, Sept. 21, at 2 p.m. on Cedar Springs Road.

“With more than 30 years of experience in the entertainment industry, Kennedy is a powerhouse performer, pageant icon and community trailblazer,” noted a Pride In Dallas press release announcing the news.

Davenport trained in a variety of dance styles, including ballet, jazz, modern and African styles, and has performed on stages around the world. The entertainer has held countless titles, including Miss Gay USofA and Miss Gay Black USofA.

Davenport has appeared on America’s Got Talent and the RuPaul star vehicle series AJ and the Queen, and she was a finalist in both Season 7 of RuPaul’s Drag Race and Drag Race All Stars Season 3. She is currently performing in Las Vegas as part of the cast of RuPaul’s Drag Race Live.

“Kennedy brings grace, strength and unapologetic authenticity to everything she does,” the Pride In Dallas press release noted. “Join us in celebrating a true legend and Dallas native who continues to inspire and elevate the art of drag worldwide.”

Narvaez has “dedicated his life to public service and uplifting marginalized voices across our city,” the Pride in Dallas press release notes. He was elected to the Dallas City Council in 2017 and served “with distinction” through May 2025, when term limits prevented him from being re-elected.

Throughout his tenure as a civil servant and elected official, Narvaez has “champion[ed] equity, community development and working-class families,” the press release continues. “His leadership journey includes roles as a Dallas County Schools trustee, president of Stonewall Democrats of Dallas, and vice president of LULAC 4871, where he received the first-ever ‘Nuestro Orgullo Award.’

“With deep roots in neighborhoods like Ledbetter, La Loma and Bachman Lake, Omar’s legacy is one of fierce advocacy, cultural pride and meaningful progress for Dallas’ LGBTQ+ and Latinx communities.”

Pride in Dallas is a 100 percent-volunteer-based organization formed through overwhelming support from the local LGBTQ+ community. Pride in Dallas serves to provide celebrations of LGBTQ+ Pride in the heart of the queer Dallas community.
