The makers of UNO have shut down rumors that the popular card game is coming to Las Vegas casinos. But all is not lost for those looking for a high-class UNO experience.
The “UNO Social Club” will soon come to bars in cities across the country, including Chicago, the brand announced on social media.
Rumors that UNO would be played in casinos sparked from the social club’s debut through a luxury suite at the Las Vegas Palms Casino Resort. The promotion gave a giveaway winner and their guest the chance to stay in an UNO-themed suite this weekend.
Quelling rumors on social media, the official UNO Instagram account said UNO will not be played on casino floors, citing security concerns.
“A rumor has come to our attention that there will be UNO tables on the casino floors in Las Vegas. Sounds wild, huh?” reads the post. “We hate to be the bearer of bad news but the casino floor isn’t ready for us yet.”
Still, the post continued, the UNO Social Club will expand to five new cities this summer.
“This isn’t a Reverse card,” the brand assured fans.
In addition to Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Atlanta and Austin will see social clubs in August, according to the post.
In a news release originally announcing the social clubs, Mattel, the company behind UNO, promised UNO Social Clubs will feature “UNO-themed drink menus, tournament-style play, photo moments and more.”
“We created UNO Social Clubs to reimagine what game night can be—bringing people together for real-world fun, connection, and a bit of friendly competition,” said Ray Adler, vice president and global head of games at Mattel, in the release.
