JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Step outside in Jacksonville, and you’re likely to feel it immediately: the heat and humidity aren’t going anywhere just yet.
Temperatures are sitting around 80 degrees in Jacksonville and Brunswick, 79 degrees in St. Augustine, and 74 degrees in Waycross as the day gets underway.
These warm, sticky conditions are expected to stick around with no big relief just yet.
Hourly forecasts show those temperatures climbing into the low to upper 80s as the afternoon approaches.
Light showers possible
While it may feel muggy, it isn’t all bad news: The Weather Authority reports little to no rain showing on the radar early in the day.
Showers that do move through the Jacksonville area are expected to be very light and non-severe, mainly appearing between about 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
The forecast indicates that most rain activity is well to the west and more prominent in other parts of Florida.
The coast is likely to remain clear, so those hoping to spend some time at the beach could find today an ideal opportunity.
Weekend weather improvements
There’s some good news looking ahead: a high pressure system is expected to approach the region as the weekend begins.
This system will likely help taper off the showers, bringing lower rain chances and more comfortable outdoor conditions as Saturday arrives.
Stay tuned to Exact Track 4D and The Weather Authority for more updates as the forecast develops.
