The Pirates will open their home schedule on Friday, and one of their top prospects, Konnor Griffin, is expected to start.

Griffin did not make the club out of Spring Training, but in just 13 at-bats with Triple-A Indianapolis, he has three hits.

During his time in the minor leagues last season, the 6’3″, 222-pound shortstop had a .333 batting average and a .941 OPS.

Griffin was picked 9th overall by the Pirates in the 2024 draft, and along with his great offensive stats in Triple-A, he also won a MiLB Golden Glove Award last season.

The Pirates are also, reportedly, in negotiations to get Griffin signed long-term, according to ESPN.

The Pirates will open their home schedule on Friday at 4:12 p.m. at PNC Park against the Baltimore Orioles.

They’re currently 3-3 and have won back-to-back games over the Cincinnati Reds.
