Officers said they were called out to the central Phoenix park just after 11 p.m. on Feb. 5, 2023. They found a gray Nissan Altima in the parking lot with the engine still running and Hamilton’s body inside.
Phoenix police said Nicholes made comments that linked him to the murder. He was booked into jail on charges of first-degree murder, theft and trafficking in stolen property.
His bond was set at $2 million.
Family members said Hamilton had a young son who was staying with her mother and stepfather on the night she was killed. She had graduated with degrees from both Northern Arizona University and Arizona State University and had recently moved to Phoenix from Yuma for a better life.
