CONCORD, CA (July 17, 2025) — De La Salle High athletic director Leo Lopoz has concluded a highly successful 2024-2025 for his school’s sports programs by earning two prestigious honors.
California Coaches Association named Lopoz, a 1994 graduate of the Concord boys high school, as California Boys AD of the Year. The Concord resident has spent more than two decades at his alma mater “raising the bar for coaches and student-athletes” including the last 19 as athletic director and vice principal for athletics.
This spring, the North Coast Section awarded Lopoz its Phil Hempler Service Award, exemplifying “the highest standards of sportsmanship, ethical conduct and moral character in their unique and distinguished service to NCS.”
During the 2024-25 school year De La Salle won Section and Northern California championships in football, baseball and golf. They also won NCS titles in water polo, basketball, swimming and track and field.
Those recent championships add to the mind-numbing historic figures for DLS teams with 292 league titles, 200 NCS championships, 22 Northern California championships, 25 CIF State championships and six national titles.
