Shine Theatre will present “Tarzan: The Stage Musical” April 24 through May 3 at Highlands Church, 9050 East Pinnacle Peak Road, Scottsdale. Tickets are $29 and $20 and are available at shinetheatre.org.

The production features a 39-member cast led by Phoenix-based actor Noah Weaver in the title role. Grace Matejsek stars as Jane, returning to Shine Theatre following her appearance in last season’s “The Prince of Egypt.” The cast also includes Kimberly Anderson as Kala, Caleb Schreckengost as Kerchak, Killian Thompson as Terk, Simon Gary as Professor Porter and Zachary Ross as Clayton.

The production incorporates aerial elements, stylized choreography and large-scale puppetry, including a five-person elephant puppet. To prepare for the physical demands of the show, the company partnered with Gecko Climbing Gym for aerial training.

“This cast has approached the physical work with so much commitment and care,” said Lieghanne Harrison, aerial instructor at Gecko Climbing Gym. “The performers portraying the birds, apes and monkeys have been building strength and confidence in the air week by week.”

An orchestra of 12 musicians, led by Music Director Kinsey Baumann and conducted by Brendan Anderson, performs Phil Collins’ score live. Costumes were designed by Tracy and Alexis Stoltz, a Zoni Award-winning mother-daughter team.

Founded in March 2022, Shine Theatre is a community theater company based at Highlands Church. For more information, visit shinetheatre.org.
