Jason Adam may have passed a final test.
The Padres’ rehabbing reliever threw two perfect innings in a 13-5 loss to visiting Albuquerque on Wednesday.
The outing came after a day off following back-to-back appearances. Adam didn’t strike out any batters on Wednesday and has just one against two walks, but he’s turned in five scoreless innings (2 H, 2 BBs) with El Paso.
Adam is returning from last year’s season-ending left quad surgery.
Left-hander Marco Gonzales (1-1, 7.24 ERA) allowed 10 runs — four earned — on 13 hits in 3⅔ innings in the loss.
Third baseman Mason McCoy (.617 OPS) drove in three runs on his first homer.
Shortstop Sung-Mun Song (.656 OPS), also on a rehab assignment while returning from an oblique injury, went 1-for-4 with a run scored.
El Paso is 5-6.
