Alabama wide receiver Noah Rogers will undergo an MRI after being carted off during Saturday’s A-Day scrimmage, coach Kalen DeBoer said.
Rogers, an incoming transfer from NC State, fell in the end zone attempting to catch a pass and was later helped to the medical tent without putting weight on his left leg. That leg was in a brace as he was carted to the locker room about midway through the scrimmage.
DeBoer said Rogers, a redshirt junior, will be evaluated based on the results of the MRI.
“Unfortunate with him getting dinged up. We’ll kind of see what that looks like,” DeBoer said. “We’ll have more information here as we go through the spring and summer.”
Rogers was one of Alabama’s three first-team receivers to begin the scrimmage along with Ryan Coleman-Williams and Lotzeir Brooks. After his injury, redshirt sophomore Rico Scott replaced Rogers with the first-team offense with sophomore Derek Meadows and freshman Cederian Morgan also working with Alabama’s top two quarterbacks Saturday.
After last week’s scrimmage, Rogers was the receiver that DeBoer named when asked who stood out at the position.
“Noah has been consistent,” DeBoer said April 3. “He had that couple nice catches and some big plays. I thought he was there we needed to. Even just sometimes short ones where you got to move the chains. Maybe it’s not just complete natural catch. He’d probably be the one that stood out the most. “
The 6-foot-2, 201-pound Rogers began his career at Ohio State as the No. 40 overall recruit in the 2023 high school class. The North Carolina native transferred to NC State after one season, and caught a total of 68 passes for 919 yards and three touchdowns over two seasons with the Wolfpack.
Cornerback Nick Sherman, a junior college transfer, left Saturday’s practice with an apparent upper-body injury after visiting the medical tent. Sherman worked with the second-team defense before his injury.
Alabama had several other players who were either not in uniform or otherwise did not participate in Saturday’s scrimmage.
