A few weeks before graduation, 18-year-old Logan Phares sat in a concert hall and listened as a full orchestra brought his music to life.
For the Phoenix Symphony, it was part of an educational performance. For Phares, a senior at Boulder Creek High School in Anthem, it was something more personal: a four-minute composition he wrote and arranged over several months, inspired by heartbreak and shaped by persistence, now performed by a full symphony.
“I was intimidated, but I jumped at it,” Phares said of the chance. “I wanted to write it and, even if I wasn’t going to make it, I still just wanted the feedback in any way possible.”
