Clark Mills, N.Y. — A tornado that spun out of a line of severe thunderstorms killed three people early Sunday in a Central New York hamlet, according to the National Weather Service.

The tornado was about as wide as a football field. It had estimated peak winds of 105 mph, making it an EF-1 on the Enhanced Fujita scale, which ranks tornadoes from EF-0 to EF-5. That’s as strong as a Category 2 hurricane.
