As North Texas transitions into the weekend, conditions are expected to be steamy, but not sizzling.

Friday’s high is 97 degrees, just two degrees above the maximum temperature measured on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office. The official temperature is expected to linger in the same spot for the foreseeable future, with a high of either 96 or 97 every day through Tuesday.

Humidity is expected to be a little lower Friday, which will in turn keep the heat index, or “feels like” temperature, only a few degrees above the high at 101 degrees. The heat index is a measure of how the air feels to the human body, since high humidity makes it harder for the body to cool itself through sweating.

As humidity climbs back up to Texas’ usual sticky summer heights for the weekend, the heat index should reach 103 or 104.
