The Chicago Bears have been aggressive in adding talent throughout the last few offseasons. With a young core of their roster, adding veterans is a bit easier to do. The team still has some holes as we approach the NFL Draft, but there are still some trades they can do to get better. Let’s take a closer look at what one outlet believes the Bears could do to improve their roster in the trade market.

Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox wrote an article highlighting some possible trades that still may happen. Chicago is listed here as a possible suitor to make a deal with the New York Giants. The trade suggested sees the Bears trade away their 2026 fourth-round pick and a 2027 conditional third-round pick to the Giants in exchange for Dexter Lawrence. Below is the reasoning they provide for this possible trade:

“The Giants may not be actively shopping defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence either, but the three-time Pro Bowler is looking to be moved… If the Giants make Lawrence available at a reasonable price point, the Chicago Bears should be inclined to pounce. Chicago emerge as a legitimate contender this past season, but its defense needs improvement. Adding Lawrence could help Chicago bolster a run defense that ranked 29th in yards per carry allowed and a pass rush that generated only 35 combined sacks.”

Lawrence is coming off a down season where he finished with 31 total tackles (14 solo, 17 assisted) with 0.5 sacks, four pass deflections, and an interception. A trade may involve a new contract as well, so this would be a good change of scenery for the 28-year-old. Lawrence would be a welcome addition to the interior defensive line of the Bears, adding a legitimate force to battle with the opposing interior offensive line.

Chicago giving up one pick in this month’s draft and a conditional pick in the 2027 draft would be a massive win for the front office. The contract situation would be a bit tricky, but this would be a great move for the Bears if they can make it at this point.
