In an interview on the orange carpet at her first WNBA All-Star weekend, UConn women’s basketball great Paige Bueckers confirmed that she is dating fellow Huskies star Azzi Fudd.

Bueckers discussed the relationship with WAG Talk, a social media account that quizzes athletes’ with trivia about their partner’s accomplishments. The Dallas Wings’ rookie fielded questions about Fudd, including the year she won Gatorade Player of the Year in high school (2019), where her father Tim played college basketball (American University), and which professional basketball player is her namesake (Jennifer Azzi). The only question she missed was which WNBA team drafted Fudd’s mother Katie — the Sacramento Monarchs.

The interviewer’s final question was, “Girlfriend reveal?” Bueckers responded, “Azzi Fudd,” with a grin.

Bueckers and Fudd met while competing for USA Basketball in 2017 and became fast friends, committing to UConn as the No. 1 ranked recruits in back-to-back classes — Bueckers in 2020, Fudd in 2021. Though their college careers were both marred by injuries, the duo finally got their long-awaited season together in 2024-25 and led the Huskies to their first NCAA Championship since 2016. Both were named to the All-Final Four team, and Fudd was recognized as the Most Outstanding Player.

Fudd sat beside Bueckers at her table when she was selected No. 1 overall by the Dallas Wings in the 2025 WNBA Draft. Bueckers was named the only rookie starter for this year’s WNBA All-Star game, which will be played Saturday in Indianapolis. Fudd is also in attendance for All-Star weekend and appeared in a live episode of the Good Game podcast with Sarah Spain on Friday to announce the launch of her own podcast, Fudd Around and Find Out.
