Michael may have the Jackson 5 but doesn’t have the Jackson six, seven, or eight. Multiple members of the Jackson family are not featured in the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic, Michael, per their own request. The most famous person not featured in the documentary is Janet Jackson. “I wish everybody was in the movie,” her sister La Toya Jackson said at the red-carpet premiere. “She was asked and she kindly declined, so you have to respect her wishes.”
Also not included are Randy Jackson, who joined the Jackson 5 in 1975, replacing his elder brother Jermaine Jackson, and the eldest Jackson sibling, Rebbie. Additionally, Michael Jackson’s daughter, Paris, has come out against the movie. “I just butted out and left it alone because it’s not my project,” she said when describing how the movie was made. “They’re going to make whatever they’re going to make. A big reason why I haven’t said anything up until this point is because I know a lot of you guys are gonna be happy with it. A big section of the film panders to a very specific section of my dad’s fandom that still lives in the fantasy, and they’re gonna be happy with it.”
Other members of the family, including La Toya, Jermaine, Jackie, and Marlon Jackson, have all supported the movie and attended premieres. Reportedly, those supporting and those not supporting the film represent a schism in the Jackson family. “Paris is being ridiculously stubborn and it’s all become so personal to her,” a “family source” told the New York Post. “And she’s listening to people like Janet and Randy — and that’s where a lot of this reluctance to be a part of this is coming from.” Well, it’s easy to guess which side of the family that source is from.
