Jacksonville, Ark. (KATV) — Hundreds of athletes from across the region hit the track today, showing off their skills, determination and team spirit.
Channel Seven News stopped by Jacksonville High School as the Jacksonville North Pulaski school district hosts the 2026 Special Olympics Track and Field games.
The superintendent of schools there, Dr. Jeremy Owoh, tells us this event is all about community and inclusion.
“Just the number of volunteers, both the adult’s community members as well as our students who are deciding who wanted to come out and volunteer, that’s outstanding. That’s awesome, and it really shows that our community cares for everyone.,” said Owoh.
This event is part of Special Olympics Arkansas, which offers year-round training and competition for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
