Stolen car crash kills 2, injures 18 on Fort Worth bus

Two people were killed and 18 others were injured Thursday afternoon when a bus traveling from Fort Worth to Mexico collided with a stolen car on I-35 in San Antonio.

What we know:

A stolen Chevrolet Camaro was speeding in the southbound lanes when it crashed into a small bus that was towing a trailer on I-35 in San Antonio. The impact caused the bus to strike a concrete barrier.

An 18-wheeler then careened into the bus, police say, causing the bus to flip and eject passengers.

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said two people died, and 18 others were injured. The victims’ ages ranged from children to senior citizens.

Jose ‘Tito’ Guerra killed

The bus was owned by Fort Worth-based bus company, Transportes Guerra. Friends confirmed to FOX 4 that Jose “Tito” Guerra, the owner of Transportes Guerra for two decades, was killed in the crash. 

Crash Suspects Flee

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said four occupants of the Camaro fled the scene on foot. One of the individuals was armed with an AK-style rifle. Officers searched the area but did not locate the suspects.

What we don’t know:

The identity of the second person killed in the crash has not been released.

The investigation is ongoing.
