A 33-year-old man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of murder after a person was found dead in a Lemon Grove home, sheriff’s officials said.

An assault involving a gun was reported about 4:05 a.m. at the home on Eldora Street, said sheriff’s homicide Lt. Juan Marquez.

Deputies arrived to the address and found Eric Nunez, a Lemon Grove resident, in the driveway and detained him. Deputies then entered the home and found a victim suffering from “significant traumatic injuries,” Marquez said. The victim died at the scene.

Investigators were working to verify the victim’s identity and notify the person’s family. Investigators did not release any further information, including the suspected cause of death.

“The circumstances and motive surrounding the incident remain under investigation,” Marquez said. He added that the incident appeared isolated.

Nunez was booked into jail on one count of murder. He was being held without bail and was expected to be arraigned in San Diego Superior Court on Monday, jail records show.
