It’s time for our 2025 Black & Gold Banneret Awards! This week we present our nominees for each award honoring the best people, moments and performances from your UCF Knights in the 2024-25 athletic year.
Our staff has chosen the nominees for each award. We will then vote on them this week, and you the fans, can vote as well in the poll below. The winner of the fan vote counts as one vote, and in the event of a tie, the award goes to the winner of the fan vote.

Brenna Johnson
- In a lot of ways, it wasn’t a great year for men’s basketball, which probably raises the question “Why are they on this list?” The answer to the question isn’t simple, and it takes a true eye test to see why. This is a team that, despite losing seven games in a row in conference play, was neck and neck with some of the best teams in the country. Then, with an incomplete roster, got within one game of winning the inaugural College Basketball Crown, all while producing memorable moments and heart-pounding atmospheres along the way. If we can avoid the myopic lens of wins and losses, we can see this team for what it was: Fun.
Men’s Tennis
- It was a historic season for the Men’s Tennis team. It hosted an NCAA Regional and won it, advancing to the Sweet 16 for the first time ever. It won four matches against Top 10 ranked opponents. Going by their season-ending rankings the Knights beat #2 TCU Horned Frogs en route to the Big 12 Championship game, upset #6 Ohio State in the ITA Indoor Championships, quashing their 2024 title defense, and beat #11 Arizona Wildcats twice, once in Tuscan and once in Orlando. The Knights started their season with eight straight wins, beating out the program record set the season before, and finished it with 23 wins total, beating out 2021 for the most in the D1 era.
