Lucas Giolito had a busy first full day in the Padres organization.

The 31-year-old right-hander began his ramp-up at low Single-A Lake Elsinore and pitched into the third inning until exiting after a comebacker in a 6-5 win on Saturday over visiting Visalia.

Giolito struck out four and allowed two runs on two hits and three walks in 2⅔ innings. He threw 40 of his 63 pitches for strikes.

Giolito allowed a run in the first inning, struck out three after a leadoff walk in the second inning and allowed a run in the third before exiting after the comebacker.

Right fielder George Bilecki (.645 OPS) went 1-for-2 with a double, three RBIs and a walk.

Third baseman Justin DeCriscio (.958 OPS) went 1-for-4 with two RBIs.

Center fielder Ryan Wideman (.991 OPS) went 0-for-2 with two walks and his system-best 14th steal.

Lake Elsinore is 11-9.

 

Notable

San Antonio placed RHPs Miguel Mendez (neck) and Manuel Castro (tired arm) on the seven-day list. Both stays could be minimal. Mendez (1-0, 3.68 ERA) is ranked No. 3 in the system by MLB.com.

Amarillo 5, Missions 4 (10): C Ethan Salas (.858 OPS) drove in three runs on two hits, including his second homer in as many days and of the season. LF Albert Fabian (.635 OPS) hit his second homer. LHP Jagger Haynes (6.19 ERA) struck outs and allowed two runs in five innings in the start.

 

HIGH SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (7-13)

TinCaps 2, Wisconsin 1: LHP Jamie Hitt (4.76 ERA) struck out eight and allowed just two hits over five shutout innings. RHP Clark Candiotti (5.91 ERA) struck out a batter over two scoreless innings. CF Kasen Wells (.670 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a walk.
