Yonathan Perlaza hit his 10th homer, but Triple-A El Paso was buried early in a 9-5 loss at Tacoma on Friday.

Tacoma scored eight runs in the second inning.

Left-hander Wes Benjamin (3-6, 6.39 ERA) allowed five runs in 1⅔ innings in the start.

Right-hander Manuel Castro (5.06 ERA) allowed three runs in one-third of an inning.

Left-hander Omar Cruz (5.19 ERA) allowed a run in three innings.

Perlaza (.878 OPS) went 2-for-4 with three of his four RBIs scoring on his 10th homer.

Catcher Luis Campusano (1.010 OPS) went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Center fielder Brandon Lockridge (.900 OPS) went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.

El Paso is 49-45.

RF Braedon Karpathios (.794 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. SS Leo De Vries (.754 OPS) went 0-for-4 with a strikeout.

Rancho Cucamonga 5, Storm 1: RHP Bernard Jose (0-2, 5.04 ERA) allowed three runs in two-thirds of an inning after RHP Maikel Miralles (4.32 ERA) struck out four over five shutout innings in the start. RF Victor Figueroa (.881 OPS) went 1-for-5 with a double. SS Cobb Hightower (.670 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

 

ROOKIE ACL PADRES (14-42)

Padres 7, Royals 6: RHP Roberto Burgos (1-0, 5.12 ERA) struck out five over two shutout innings in relief in the win. 2B Luis De Leon (.764 OPS) went 1-for-3 with two steals (18) and a run scored. DH Yimy Tovar (.757 OPS) and 3B Ismael Javier (.567 OPS) both drove in two runs.

 

ROOKIE DSL BROWN (17-16)

Padres 3, Athletics 1 (7): 2B Darian Castillo (.855 OPS) went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. 3B Endy Rios (.716 OPS) went 2-for-3 with two steals. RHP Josias Figuerero (2-2, 2.86 ERA) struck out two over two scoreless innings in relief in the win. RHP Kelvin Marte (3.38 ERA) allowed a run in five innings in the start.
