The inception of Liquid Glass with iOS 26 didn’t garner the best reception, but Apple isn’t taking a backseat with the UI choice, as iOS 27 won’t revert back to the original design because the company is planning a multitude of optimizations and improvements that will span several years.

Aside from Apple typically being steadfast in its decisions, the reason it will stick with Liquid Glass has more to do with what it has planned for future iPhones, with a tipster noting that the California-based giant is set to release the most advanced display design to fulfill its bezel-less dreams.

New Liquid Glass Display likely targeted for iPhone 20, with a tipster stating that the technology won’t be like other quad-curved screens

Even though Ice Universe doesn’t explicitly state that Apple’s new Liquid Glass Display will be reserved for its 20th anniversary iPhone launch, the mention of the quad-curved panel suggests it will be catered to this specific release. On X, the tipster writes that this display won’t be like the units present on older Android smartphones, as the curvature could be highly ‘subtle.’

Leveraging the unique Liquid Glass UI, the light could refract from the edges, giving the illusion of a completely bezel-less form factor. Also, thanks to careful engineering, the display corners will disappear, but the ‘edge viewing remains natural and undisturbed.’

In short, the new Liquid Glass Display could become the new design language for flagship iPhones moving forward, which would explain why Apple is rumored to be testing this form factor with Samsung. Based on what Ice Universe has mentioned, the 20th anniversary iPhone release will not just be the most ambitious project the Cupertino titan has worked on, but also the most challenging and complicated.

Apart from delivering the illusion that the iPhone 20 sports a bezel-less panel, there’s also a difficult obstacle that involves incorporating under-screen Face ID and the front-camera behind the OLED without compromising image quality. Assuming Apple isn’t satisfied with the quality, this design could be delayed to 2028 instead of 2027. Hopefully, the company achieves this milestone much sooner.
