The San Gabriel Valley high school softball Top 20 rankings as of Monday, April 27.
SGV SOFTBALL TOP 20
(Team records through Sunday, April 26.)
1. LA MIRADA (20-3)
The Matadores are ranked No. 5 in the CIF Southern Section computer rankings, but still have work to do to win the Gateway League title with games against Gahr on Tuesday and Warren on Thursday. The Matadores are tied for first with Warren. Both have 4-1 league records. If La Mirada gets by Gahr, it should be a winner-take-all on Thursday.

2. CALIFORNIA (21-4)
The Condors are ranked No. 12 in the CIF-SS rankings and are looking at a home game in the first round of the Division 1 playoffs if they can close strong. They’re 8-0 in the Del Rio League and can close out the league title with a pair of games against second place Santa Fe (5-3).

3. GANESHA (14-3)
The Giants should win their final three games in the Miramonte League. The only thing to watch is where they finish in the CIF-SS computer rankings. They are ranked No. 26 after being No. 14 last week. Even though they’re winning, their league strength is so low they continue to drop. They’re on the Division 1-2 bubble.

4. LOS ALTOS (17-8)
The Conquerors won their big game with South Hills, 5-2, and are closing in on another Hacienda League title. The freshman-heavy team is playing so well that it looks like a Division 1 playoff berth is inevitable. They are No. 19 and probably need to win out to earn a home game in the first round.

5. GLENDORA (21-2-2)
The Tartans posted one of the biggest wins of the season over a CIF-SS top ten ranked team, beating No. 9 Ayala, 5-4, to take over sole possession of second place in the Palomares League. Now the Tartans get set for a rematch with Bonita on Friday after losing 12-3 to the Bearcats in their first meeting. A win over Bonita would secure second place.

6. LA HABRA (17-7)
The Highlanders had a tough week, losing to Cypress (3-1) and El Modena (6-4) to drop to fourth place in the Crestview League. The league is tough and the hope is they will get in the playoffs with a solid overall record even if they don’t earn an automatic berth from league play.

7. BONITA (19-7)
The Bearcats’ 7-6 loss to Claremont in nine innings drops them to third behind Bonita in the Palomares League standings. Even though they beat Glendora, 12-3, in their first meeting, they will have to beat Glendora again on Friday to finish in a second-place tie with the Tartans.

8. WHITTIER CHRISTIAN (17-8-1)
The Heralds are 6-0 in the Olympic League and need a win over Valley Christian on Thursday to win the league title outright. Pitching has been better over their six-game winning streak. But when it comes to swinging the bat, they’re as dangerous as it comes.
Previous: 8
9. CHARTER OAK (14-3)
The Chargers are 6-0 in the Valle Vista League and take on one-loss Northview on Wednesday to win the league title outright. The Chargers beat Northview, 5-2, last week, and with their offense coming around, they could be a threat in the Division 2 or 3 playoffs.
Previous: 9
10. LA SALLE (17-3)
The Lancers have clinched the Camino Real League and have three shutouts over their last four games. Freshman pitcher Peyton Herdina is 12-2 with a 1.40 ERA. She needs nine more strikeouts to get to 100 on the season.
