Syracuse’s “Boeheim’s Army” makes its return to The Basketball Tournament in 2025 after missing the past two annual tournaments. They’ll host Herkimer Originals in the first round Saturday at 6 p.m. ET.

Former Orange sharpshooter and legendary Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim’s son Buddy is one of the biggest additions to the team this year. His brother Jimmy Boeheim is also on the team.
Buddy led Syracuse in scoring in both the 2020-21 season and the 2021-22 season. He went undrafted then spent the next two seasons with the Detroit Pistons.
Buddy and Jimmy are joined by fellow Orange alumni such as Chris McCullough, Elijah Hughes, Malachi Richardson and Rakeem Christmas. Richardson and McCullough were on the 2021 version of this team that won the entire tournament.
There’s a few other familiar faces on Boeheim’s Army for those who follow college basketball. Former Kansas guard and Wooden Award winner Frank Mason has joined the squad. Mason averaged 20 points and five assists while shooting 47% from 3-point range in the 2016-17 season. He spent four seasons in the NBA and most recently spent time playing in Puerto Rico.
Former Richmond guard Jacob Gilyard will also join Boeheim’s Army. Gilyard spent five seasons with the Spiders, leading the nation in steals in each of his last three years. He most recently played basketball in Germany.
Boeheim’s Army will host the first three rounds in Syracuse. The winner of Boeheim’s Army vs. Herkimer Originals will play Monday at 8 p.m. ET.
