With the cost of buying a home so high in New York state, a lot of families are opting to move into manufactured homes. But over the last few years, long-term residents of these communities have reported harassment, deteriorating infrastructure, illegal rent increases and unsafe conditions.
State Attorney General Letitia James will be holding a community hearing this Saturday for residents of manufactured homes, both to hear their stories, and to ensure they know their rights.
It’s called “Protecting Manufactured Home Residents: A Community Hearing and Resource Fair.” It will take place this Saturday, May 2, at SUNY Empire State University in Saratoga. Click here for more information.
James spoke with Capital Tonight’s Susan Arbetter about the rights that manufactured homeowners have as well as a bill she’s advocating for that would ban surveillance pricing.
