Hogan-Spring Glen Elementary new $44M campus scheduled to open in August 2027

  • April 29, 2026

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Construction began in March on the new Hogan-Spring Glen Elementary that Duval County Public Schools says will open as a pre-K-5 campus in August 2027.

The project, funded through a voter-approved half-cent sales tax, replaces the original school with a fully modernized elementary campus. The district said the facility will include three early-learning classrooms and nine specialized spaces intended to support a range of student needs.

The district said to date, the half-cent sales tax has supported the completion of five new schools since its passage in November 2020: Rutledge Pearson Elementary, Highlands Estates Elementary, Chaffee Trail Middle, Southside Estates Elementary and Ribault High School.

Quick facts

  • Opening date: August 2027

  • Student capacity: approximately 930

  • Negotiated cost: about $43.7 million

  • Designer: Bhide & Hall Architects

  • Contractor: Batson-Cook Company

  • Project managers: Jacobs Engineering

The district said construction includes demolition of the original Hogan-Spring Glen building to make way for the new campus.
