PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Mostly sunny and warm today with a high of 107. Sunday will bring cooler temperatures with some clouds and highs that only reach 102. That is 4 degrees below the normal high of 106 on Sunday. There may also be some virga moving through the Valley on Sunday with a slight chance of a sprinkle.
The cooler trend continues on Monday and Tuesday, with partly cloudy skies and highs in the 102- to 103-degree range. There will also be a slight chance of showers in the Valley late Monday into Tuesday, but many areas will likely miss out on the rain. Drier air pushes through from the middle to the end of next week with highs rising back to 105 by Wednesday and 109 by Friday.
For the high country today, the best chance of showers and thunderstorms will be east of Interstate 17 and south of I-40. Flash flooding and even a severe storm iare possible in this area.
Shower and thunderstorm chances continue in the mountains early next week, especially east of Flagstaff. The shower and storm coverage will then likely decrease by the middle and end of next week.
