John W. Sokachitch, Army veteran and retired Conrail employee, passed away April 26, 2026. Beloved husband of Rita E. (née Ruddy) for 54 years. Loving son of the late John and Mary Sokachitch. Dear brother of the late Frank Stritch and Joseph (Mary) Sokachitch. Brother-in-law of Rosemary Stritch and Nancy McKeon. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Known for his humor and love of trains.
Visitation Friday, May 1, 2026, 10:00–11:00 a.m. at St. Rita of Cascia Shrine Chapel, 7740 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment St. Mary Cemetery, Evergreen Park.
