PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Look for more sunshine today with above-average temperatures by the afternoon peaking near 92 degrees in the Valley. That’s about 3 degrees above normal.
While the daytime hours look quiet, we could see gusty winds and patchy, blowing dust by the evening hours. A trough of low pressure moving across northern Mexico will bring rain and thunderstorm chances today, mainly to southeastern Arizona. A few of those thunderstorm outflows could reach the Valley. While rain is unlikely for the Phoenix metro area, be on the lookout for strong winds and blowing dust potential later today.
After today’s low pressure system exits the region tomorrow, high pressure is forecast to build across the region, leading to a rapid warm-up. Temperatures are forecast to climb to the mid 90s both Saturday and Sunday in the Valley. The forecast calls for morning temperatures in the 60s Saturday warming to 96 under sunny skies by the afternoon. Sunday brings a few more clouds and a high of 97 degrees.
Another area of low pressure is forecast to drop down from the Pacific Northwest early next week. At this point, rain chances are unlikely for the Valley, but look for winds to begin picking up by Sunday night. Temperatures are also set to drop back to the 80s next week. We’ll keep you updated as we get closer and know more about how this storm will impact Arizona.
