SAN ANTONIO – A hit-and-run suspect is on the loose after causing a multi-vehicle crash that left another driver critically injured on the city’s West Side.

The crash happened late Friday night, around 10:49 p.m., at the intersection of Culebra Road and NW 19th Street.

According to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), a 2000 Toyota 4Runner was traveling west on Culebra when it suddenly veered left, and struck a raised curb, causing it to roll into the eastbound lanes just before the intersection.

The Toyota began to roll onto the driver’s side and struck the driver’s side of another vehicle, causing it to lose control and veer into the westbound lanes. A third vehicle, also traveling eastbound, was sideswiped and sustained minor damage.

The Toyota driver fled the scene without rendering aid. The driver of the second vehicle was transported with life-threatening injuries and remained in critical but stable condition.

SAPD says when located, the Toyota driver will be charged with 1 count of Collision Involving Serious Bodily Injury and 1 count of Collision Involving Damage to vehicle.
