Public forum on Ukraine War

NORTHAMPTON — A public forum on the Ukraine War, titled “With Russia Advancing, What Should U.S. Policy Be To Bring a Just Peace?”, will be held on Monday from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Forbes Library’s Coolidge Room, 20 West St. The event will also be livestreamed for remote viewing on the Forbes Library YouTube channel, and will also be recorded.

Three similar forums have taken place in the past two years, featuring two local speakers with differing views of the war. John Feffer is an Amherst author and director of Foreign Policy in Focus at the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, D.C. He has supported U.S. policy toward arming and supporting Ukraine to defeat Russia since its invasion of 2022.

John Berkowitz is a Northampton activist, and member of Massachusetts Peace Action’s Ukraine Peace Campaign. He has opposed U.S. policy and supported a negotiated settlement, not military escalation that could lead to direct U.S./NATO confrontation with Russia, including nuclear war.

Following these speakers, there will be a question-and-answer dialogue with the audience.

Sponsors of the forum are Forbes Library and the Massachusetts Peace Action Education Fund. For more information, call Forbes Library 413-584-1011 or email John Berkowitz at johnpberk@proton.me
