A child was found dead on the New Waterford shore on Saturday. Emergency services answered a call around 2:30 p.m.

Fire official was unable to provide details of the child’s identity

A child has been found dead on the shore in New Waterford, N.S.

Gerald Coady, the deputy chief of the New Waterford Volunteer Fire Department, said emergency services went to the waterfront after receiving a report about 2:30 p.m. that a child had gone over the bank.

The body was recovered around 3 p.m.

Coady said the child was male and about six years old.

He said he did not know the identity of the child or if the child’s parents were present.
