A 9-year-old boy was struck and killed by a school bus in Brooklyn Friday morning, the NYPD said.

Police said they responded to Lee Avenue and Lorimer Street in South Williamsburg just before 8:20 a.m.

Officers found the boy there unconscious and unresponsive, with head and body injuries, according to police.

Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation found that a yellow school bus was turning left onto Lorimer Street from the avenue when it hit the boy as he was crossing the street, police said.

The school bus operator initially left the scene before returning, the NYPD said.

Police didn’t immediately release the boy’s name. Their investigation is ongoing.
