Earlier this year, New York state Department of Environmental Conservation Police Officer Ronald Bosela died after an extended illness connected to his work at Ground Zero following the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
Officer Bosela was assigned to the North Tower at the World Trade Center that day and helped move the command post from Ground Zero to the piers along the Hudson River.
He resided in Erie County. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
Environmental conservation officer Matthew Krug, vice president of the Police Benevolent Association of New York State, remembered Bosela and discussed how to stabilize funding at the federal level for the 9/11 Health and Compensation Act.
