Voters across Tarrant County head to the polls today to decide several school board races that could reshape leadership in districts across the Fort Worth area.
Polls are open May 2 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at voting locations across the county.
While ballots in many areas include city races, bond proposals and charter amendments, the Crowley, Castleberry and White Settlement districts also include school board contests..
3 candidates seek open Crowley ISD seat
Crowley ISD’s Place 3 seat — left vacant when Mia Hall was elected to the Fort Worth City Council — has drawn three candidates in a special election for the unexpired portion of her term.
Appointed incumbent Michael Laszek is seeking to keep the seat after joining the board in October. A parent of three students in the district, Laszek is an independent quality assurance consultant.
He faces two challengers.
Daryl Davis II, a former Crowley ISD board president, is attempting a return after opting not to seek reelection in 2025 in favor of running for Fort Worth City Council. Davis is a vice president and pastor at Inspiring Temple of Praise Church in the Eastland neighborhood of Fort Worth and vice president of workforce and development for UpSpire, a professional services company.
Jacqueline Upshaw is also on the ballot. No info was available and she did not respond to attempt to contact.

In Castleberry ISD, incumbent Tracy Gallman — a longtime River Oaks resident and former board vice president — is running for another term.
She is challenged by Sydney Claridge, a Castleberry ISD graduate.
Seat swap, open race in White Settlement ISD
White Settlement ISD voters will see two contested races on the ballot.
In Place 6, incumbent Krystal Arnold is being challenged by John Bradley, who is completing a term representing Place 7. .
In the open Place 7 seat, newcomers Michael Gutierrez and Briley Hicks are seeking to replace Bradley for a full term. Gutierrez works in water treatment, and Hicks is a sales director and parent in the district.
