The 11th annual NC Pacific Arts Festival is back in Jacksonville.
Festivities began Friday might at the Jacksonville Commons recreational park with a beer garden.
Afterward, the gates opened at 11:00 a.m. Saturday for a day full of Polynesian and Asian cultural exhibits.
Mary Sylvian is the president of the Asian American Pacific Islander local group, and she says that this event features fun for all ages as well as an important message.
I’m very passionate about what we do here because I am from Hawaii and my family is from China. So we come out here to share our culture with all the kids who can’t grow up with us on the island so this is the way of teaching them our way of life that we have on the island.
Whether that is through the art of dance, crafts, or even a fashion show, there is fun for everyone.
