More than 300 lives have been saved, according to the Tempe Police Department, by officers who administered Narcan, a medication that can reverse an opioid overdose.
Alfred Gaines is one of them, and it happened more than once.
“Thank God for the officers that do respond in time … and saved my life. Gave me second and third chances,” said Gaines, who is in recovery and focuses on helping others whose struggles he said he knows well.
