Amarillo Sod Poodles pick up second straight shutout win over San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO (KFDA) – The Amarillo Sod Poodles won game two of their series against the San Antonio Missions Saturday night by a score of 5-0, their second straight shutout.

Tommy Troy got the scoring action started on a two RBI double. Jean Walters followed with an RBI sac bunt that the Missions picked up an error on for another. Manuel Pena picked up the RBI after another Missions’ error, scoring Caleb Roberts.

LuJames Groover’s RBI single would seal the night for the Soddies, scoring Walters.

Roman Angelo picked up his second win on the mound for the Sod Poodles tonight, only allowing two hits in six innings pitched while striking out six batters.

Amarillo remains in first place in the Texas League South Division after tonight’s win, officially two games ahead.

The two teams will be back in action Sunday night for the series finale. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. CST.
