A cell phone video obtained by FOX 17 News shows a gunman opening fire outside a club in downtown Nashville early Sunday morning.

The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. outside the La Danse nightclub on Rosa Parks Boulevard, according to Metro Nashville police. The video shows a suspect firing repeatedly, with sparks flying from the weapon, and what sounds like return fire. The suspects then fled in a car.

Metro Nashville police said three people were shot- two men, ages 27 and 28, and a 24-year-old woman. One victim was critically injured, but all are expected to recover.

“Over 60 rounds were shot,” Metro Council member Jacob Kupin said, who oversees the downtown district.

Detectives said the violence stemmed from a fight that began inside the club. Investigators said a fight between women broke out and was broken up by security, who told those involved to leave. A group of men then began fighting, was also removed, and continued the altercation outside in the parking lot.

Police said at least one suspect, described as a Black man wearing an orange hat, orange shoes and an orange bandana with light-colored jeans, fired multiple shots.

“As we see here, there are bullet holes riddling this parking lot. Really a horrific incident,” Kupin said.

Shattered glass and bullet-riddled signs remained at the scene the next morning.

A parking attendant said officers were nearby when the shooting occurred.

“We got hundreds of officers right over here, like not even a mile away, and they just don’t really care about it,” said Massi Sadozai, a parking lot employee.

Metro police are searching for the shooters and said they have strong leads.

The nightclub is again facing scrutiny after previous violence. Just over a year ago, police responded to another shooting outside La Danse following a fight inside the club that left a bystander shot in the leg.

Kupin said he is working with local and state agencies, including the Alcoholic Beverage Commission and the city’s Beer Permit Board, to address safety concerns at the venue.

“I think we absolutely have to address this nightclub. MNPD has been working on this club for years as a nuisance, as an issue,” Kupin said.

He added the incident does not reflect the broader downtown area, which is visited safely by millions each year.

“(A shooting) creates massive fear in people,” Kupin said.

According to Metro police data, aggravated assaults in the central district, which includes downtown and encompasses shootings, are down 20% in 2026, year over year.

More broadly, Metro Nashville Police data shows violent crime citywide dropped nearly 14% in 2025, compared to the year before, with homicides falling to their lowest level in a decade.

FOX 17 reached out to the La Danse nightclub for comment but did not receive a response.
