Indiana Fever rookie point guard Raven Johnson opened up a little bit about her long-time friendship with Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards on Monday. However, while reflecting on the types of conversations they have, the former South Carolina Lady Gamecock teased Edwards about his Adidas shoes.

While talking with media members on Monday, Johnson claimed she informed Edwards that his shoes look better on her, according to James Boyd and Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic. That’s what she told the 24-year-old Timberwolves star after asking him if he’ll play in Minnesota’s next playoff game against the San Antonio Spurs.

“He’s always been like a support system to me,” said Johnson. “We talk about any and everything. I was just texting him yesterday about the playoffs, if he was gonna play. I told him that I rock his shoes better than he rocks his shoes.”

Edwards first signed an endorsement deal with Adidas in 2020, where he has remained since then. His first shoe, the Adidas AE 1, dropped in 2023. His shoe has been one of the most popular in the basketball world, both for its performance on the court and its comfortable wear in everyday use.

As for Raven Johnson, we should see her rocking Anthony Edwards’ shoes throughout her rookie year with the Fever. Indiana selected the 23-year-old guard to improve the roster. She will be playing alongside Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, and Lexi Hull.

Jonshon joins a Fever team that has made the playoffs in two consecutive years. She has a chance to make an impact for one of the best young teams in the WNBA right from the jump.
