FORT WORTH – Max Finley went to be with the love of his life, Janice, on Thursday, July 10, 2025. Visitation: 6 – 8 p.m. Monday July 21, 2025, at Greenwood Funeral Home in Memorial Suite A, 3344 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth, Texas 76107. Service: 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, in Greenwood’s Live Oak Chapel, 3100 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth, Texas 76107; with interment to follow in Greenwood Memorial Park. Max was born December 31, 1934, in Memphis, Tennessee. He had six brothers and sisters – Julie, Faye, Norma, Gus, John, and Paul – and remained close with them throughout their lives, often hosting and traveling to visit them and their families. After high school, Max joined the Air Force, and then became an air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration. Max married Janice in 1963. Together, they raised a family built on love and strong will. Max retired from the FAA, and within a few years, became a stay-at-home Botsy for his granddaughter, Michelle. Between Moose Lodge functions and Michelle’s field trips and classroom parties, Max would occasionally work as a realtor. Max joined the Loyal Order of Moose, Fort Worth Lodge #1100, in January 1970, and the Legion of the Moose in March 1978. Max quickly became an active member, participating and competing on the Legion Ritual Staff (one of his favorite roles; he was a fantastic orator) and holding various offices and appointments over the years. Max and Janice were proud Moose members, and both worked hand-in-hand tirelessly for the Lodge, giving their time, talents, hearts, and money to ensure the success of the Lodge and provide for its members. Noted honors: Governor for Lodge #1100 in 1984 Fellowship Degree of Merit in May 1984 Pilgrim Degree of Honor in May 1992 State Secretary 1992-1994 Lodge #1100 Administrator 2000-2017 Awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for Texas in 2015 Max and Janice loved to travel all over the US. Most often, they attended conventions all over the US for the Moose Lodge. They formed great bonds of friendship over the years, many of which they simply considered family. Max, or ‘Botsy’, loved to laugh and sing. He was often found at karaoke night at the Lodge, singing Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin. He loved having family and friends over to eat, drink, and be very, very merry. It wasn’t uncommon to find him deep in a poker game at 2:00 a.m. or out on his party barge dancing at Possum Kingdom Lake. During holidays and special gatherings, the front door was wide open and everyone was welcome. Max was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 57 years, Janice Finley; sisters, Julie, Faye, and Norma; brothers, John and Paul; and son, Kurt Kraft. He is survived by his daughter, Melody Kraft; granddaughter, Michelle King and husband, Marty; great-granddaughters, Jessica King and Halley King; great-great-grandson, Ian and great-great-granddaughter, Tori; along with a loving extended family and a slew of friends across the States.
