LEGO have officially unveiled 21066 New York City – The Big Apple, introducing a fresh new concept to LEGO’s Architecture theme.

This 1,456-piece model lets you build a very abstract model of New York’s iconic skyline, silhouetted against a dark skylit sky in the shape of an apple, a really interesting way to bring New York’s Big Apple moniker to life in LEGO form.

It’s a really bold and audacious direction from LEGO Architecture, which is mixing it up with this series of City skyline sets, first with January 2026’s Paris – City of Love set which eschewed the traditional replica approach for a more artistic take on iconic cities and their landmarks.

I got to see the set at Fan Media Days 2025, and came away very impressed by this new expression of New York. It’s as if LEGO Art and LEGO Architecture had a baby, as the composition, and how the cityscape is depicted is quite fresh, and this makes for a fantastic display model.

Not to much an Architectural homage, but it does capture the energy and vibe of New York City, aka the city that never sleeps.

There are plenty of landmarks like the Empire State Building, One World Trade Center, Guggenheim Museum, the Met, Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, and of course, the Statue of Liberty, which is the second time a LEGO Architecture set has featured a full-sized minifigure.

I think this is a really cool depiction of New York city, in a style that LEGO Architecture has never done before. It’s refreshing, and the composition, colours and more make it a superb display model, especially if you grew up in New York, live there currently, or have fond memories visiting it on holiday.
