The Old Globe has announced the full cast and creative team for the San Diego premiere of The Hombres, written by Tony Meneses.

Under the direction of Globe favorite James Vásquez(Under a Baseball Sky, American Mariachi), this production will bring a funny and deeply human look at masculinity, vulnerability, and connection in a yoga studio.

The Hombres will play on the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe’s Conrad Prebys Theatre Center in San Diego’s Balboa Park (1363 Old Globe Way). Performances run May 30 – June 21, 2026, with the official press opening Thursday, June 4, at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at TheOldGlobe.org.

For Héctor and his crew of construction workers, the job site is all about grit and bravado. When their catcalling and jokes draw complaints from the yoga studio next door, instructor Julián invites them to try a class. Soon, they’re forced to reexamine everything they think they know about strength and flexibility. From Tony Meneses (El Borracho), The Hombres is a funny and deeply human look at machismo, friendship and the quiet bonds that form when men open their chakras and let their guard down.

“The Hombres is a deeply absorbing and genuinely humane play that tells a story of friendship, masculinity, and unexpected transformation,” said Erna Finci Viterbi Artistic Director Barry Edelstein. “Playwright Tony Meneses returns to the Globe with this award-winning and critically acclaimed play, which examines with great humor and heart the bravado that binds men together and the surprising vulnerability that so often rests just beneath its surface. Brought vividly to life by director and Globe favorite James Vásquez and a gifted company of actors and designers, the play is a warm, funny, and moving evening in the theatre, and I’m thrilled for San Diego audiences to experience it.”

The cast of The Hombres includes Jonny Beauchamp (ABC’s “Will Trent,” ReVision Theatre’s Spring Awakening) as Julián, Robert Lenzi (Broadway’s Tina: The Tina Turner Musical) as Miles, Jesse J. Perez (Globe’s The Merry Wives of Windsor, Classical Theatre of Harlem’s MEMNON) as Pedro, Jason Sanchez (Off Broadway’s Titus Andronicus, Long Wharf’s El Coquí Espectacular and the Bottle of Doom) as Beto, and Martín Solá (Broadway’s Buena Vista Social Club, How to Dance in Ohio) as Héctor.

Understudies for The Hombres include Marcel Ferrin, Matthew Martinez Hannon, and Devyn Wade.

Also joining director James Vásquez as part of the creative team of The Hombres are David I. Reynoso (Scenic and Costume Design), Brandon Rosen (Lighting Design), Leon Rothenberg (Sound Design), Caparelliotis Casting(Casting), Jess Slocum (Production Stage Manager), Karla Stacey Garcia (Assistant Stage Manager), and Evelyn G.
