Radio ’47 is an immersive, improvised theater experience where the audience travels back in time to 1947 and becomes the studio audience at station KBRD for a live radio drama- only this one will have you laughing. The new, fright-filled program is entitled The Dark Attic and is a far cry from the kid’s westerns they’ve done for the past eight months! Begins Friday, May 8, 2026, at Mockingbird Improv in Liberty Station, NTC Arts District.
Produced and directed by Peter Jacques, Radio ’47 features an ensemble cast of 9 improvisers in costume, on mic and using props, with live sound effects and music from the era. Although the performers are following the format and tropes of old radio horror- this show is played for laughs.
“Westerns are nice but they get old after a while and now the players at KBRD are ready to take things to the dark side with The Dark Attic, ” says director, Peter Jacques. “It is the same radio employee characters from before but now dealing with a format change ordered by the station. The gold, as always, is in the mistakes. It is like the Goes Wrong Show meets a Vincent Price movie.”
