Investigators said police received tips that 22-year-old Richard Mendoza was posting videos on X of him committing sexual acts with a 13-year-old girl.
SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio detention officer has been arrested for sexual abuse of a child.
According to an arrest affidavit, 22-year-old Richard Mendoza, is accused of continuous sexual abuse of a child between August through November in 2025. Back in September, police received tips that Mendoza was posting videos to X of him committing sexual acts with a 13-year-old girl.
Officers found deleted sexual messages between Mendoza and the victim. After initially denying any connection, the victim later told investigators Mendoza would pick her up after she skipped school and take her to his apartment or behind a business. She claims they had 4 or 5 sexual encounters and he was aware of her age.
Mendoza was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography and continuous sexual abuse of a young child. San Antonio Police said Mendoza was employed with the City of San Antonio since 2024. He was placed on administrative leave.
The criminal investigation into Mendoza continues.
