SAN ANTONIO – Robyn Argote-Brooks appeared in federal court today as attorneys moved forward with jury selection in the morning and testimony began soon after.

Argote-Brooks is charged with two counts of damaging government vehicles and one count of endangering a federal officer.

The charges stem from an incident on Jan. 13 in the parking lot of the Walmart along Blanco Road near Wurzbach Parkway. Authorities said Argote-Brooks rammed his car into two ICE vehicles. He eventually got out of the car and was swarmed by ICE agents.

No cameras were allowed in court today.

One witness who testified was Jabari Butler, one of the officers involved in the January incident. Butler was the officer who made initial contact with Argote-Brooks at the time. He described law enforcement procedures leading up to the incident, testifying that Argote-Brooks was acting suspiciously and taking pictures of families in a Walmart parking lot.

Butler also testified about how the situation escalated between Argote-Brooks and other ICE officers who arrived on scene.

Argote-Brooks is set to take the stand at some point during the trial, which is expected to last about three days.
