SAN ANTONIO – Closing arguments concluded Thursday in the trial for Robyn Argote-Brooks, the man who rammed into multiple ICE agents vehicles while attempting to evade arrest.

Argote-Brooks is charged with two counts of damaging government vehicles and one count of endangering a federal officer. The charges stem from an incident on Jan. 13 in the parking lot of the Walmart along Blanco Road near Wurzbach Parkway. Authorities said Argote-Brooks rammed his car into two ICE vehicles. He eventually got out of the car and was swarmed by ICE agents.

His trial began Wednesday. There were six total witnesses. One witness who testified was one of the officers involved in the January incident. The officer was the first to make contact with Argote-Brooks at the time. He described law enforcement procedures leading up to the incident, testifying that Argote-Brooks was acting suspiciously and taking pictures of families in a Walmart parking lot.

He also testified about how the situation escalated between Argote-Brooks and other ICE officers who arrived on scene.

Among the three testifying Thursday, Robyn himself was called up to the stand to testify for himself. He was asked by US attorneys about errors on his residency application, a recounting of the timeline during the incident and after, and motivation for his actions. He testified how scared and panicked he was while the ICE officers swarmed his car during the incident.

The first witness on Thursday was the ICE officer that was in front of the vehicle and ended up getting hit.

On Wednesday, the witnesses called to the stand were the ICE agents present at the time of the incident, including the officer who made the first contact with Argote-Brooks.
