POTEET, Texas — Police arrested a man Thursday after he allegedly beat an elderly man at a local park and later challenged police to a fight.
Roger Garza was arrested following the assault at Canyon Park.
Police said that Garza repeatedly struck an elderly victim, continuing the assault even after the man had fallen to the ground. Police provided medical assistance to the victim before tracking Garza to his house.
Upon their arrival, Garza reportedly challenged police to a physical fight. Police quickly subdued Garza, taking him to the ground to place him in handcuffs.
Garza was transported to the Atascosa County Jail, where he remains in custody. Police have not yet released information regarding the condition of the victim or the specific charges Garza will face.
