The start of Dallas Cowboys training camp is still days away, but the team already has some good news heading into the season: Micah Parsons is all in.
Despite entering the last year of his contract and no deal in place, Dallas’ star edge rusher said he’ll report to camp with his teammates on Monday, July 21. The first day of practice is July 22 in Oxnard, Calif.
Brandon Loree of Blogging The Boys tweeted this quote from Parsons: “I want to win a Super Bowl, bro…and I know like first to win a Super Bowl, like I need to bond with these guys. Like I need to be around these guys.”

Parsons, rated by ESPN.com’s survey of league insiders as the third-best edge rusher in football, is in the final year of his five-year rookie contract, and it’s unusual for a player in his position to report to camp without a new deal.
Dallas has said they are close to a deal with Parsons, but nothing has been completed, leaving to speculation that he would hold out. Obviously, an injury for Parsons at this point would be disastrous for his leverage in contract talks.
Parsons, however, has made his dissatisfaction with how the talks are going known, most recently during an appearance on the “Six Feet Under” podcast with WWE legend The Undertaker. Parsons took a shot at owner Jerry Jones.
“We obviously wanted to get done early,” Parsons said. “We want that relief off our backs. But, obviously, ownership is always gonna make it drag out, make it more complicated than it has to be. Lack of communication and that standpoint, but, you know, I just always say, God has me this far, he ain’t done with me yet, so, you know, I just keep working, keep going, and then when it comes, I’m gonna be ready. But, you know, ain’t gonna be no dropoff.”
Whether this inspires the Cowboys to finalize a deal for a player who is obviously aiming to be a leader or inspires them to take advantage of the situation and see how this season unfolds will play out in the months to come.
